Presenter, entertainer and author Alesha Dixon reveals why self-love, wellness and spirituality are so important to her
With her memorable singing career, Strictly Come Dancing win and time spent judging Britain’s Got Talent, it’s fair to say Alesha Dixon has become somewhat of a household name. But what a lot of people don’t realise is just how spiritual she is. In the past few years she’s talked openly about following a more mindful path and seeking inner balance and peace within, and has revealed that she’s gained a lot of life-affirming wisdom from her spiritual mum. Here she tells us about how she finds happiness and joy in her life, and explains more about her wellness range NobleBlu…
“For me, wellness is finding balance in your everyday life. As well as juggling work and family life, I try and listen to my body and rest and reset when necessary. I ask myself daily what is good for me and my wellbeing today. Whether it’s watching your favourite box set, drinking a glass of wine, following a spiritual guru or chatting with a loved one, it’s about letting go, facing your fears and appreciating that every feeling is valid. Balance is key, and the ultimate goal. I try to take the pressure off when things get too much. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
Being self-employed, I juggle quite a hectic schedule. However, if possible, I like to do a workout in the morning, followed up with either a ginger shot or smoothie full of goodness like chia seeds, flax seeds and dates. That combined with the NobleBlu immunity and energy supplement, of course! I find these supplements really help support my mental and physical performance. I love making nutritious meals for my children too, and spending time in nature as much as I can, even if it is simply a daily dog walk. For me, balance is about finding that inner peace and joy in everyday life. Self-love should be a priority and it’s ok to focus on ‘you’ some of the time. Most importantly life is about having fun, and to me that’s a combination of many factors, but health, happiness and overall wellness always comes first.
I have followed certain spiritual gurus that I really resonate with for a long time. They have provided me with genuine tools and health hacks to keep me on track, and remind me of what is important. The book Awareness by Anthony de Mello is like my bible. I also love A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson and the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Reading these books has made me realise that even one person can make a big difference in some shape or form. Self-serving isn’t a life worth living; it is about lifting one another up. Worrying and feeling stressed achieves very little. I try to prioritise what is most important which is myfamily, my health and happiness. I find trust in that everything will be ok and fall into place eventually. I try not to be afraid to fail! There really is no such thing. It’s also learning to be ok with not being ok.
Every day is a new day, and we have that opportunity to reset. When I am feeling stressed I know a good workout or a nutritious meal alongside my NobleBlu supplements will make me feel a whole lot better. I also like to start the day with gratitude, setting up my intentions. This can help relieve any stress and negative voices in my head.
